When the battery isn't just dead, it's leaking: How to recognize burnout and avoid a complete breakdown

Burnout Retreat Georgia

Have you ever noticed how your office printer starts chewing up paper just when you're about to have a meltdown? Or how your phone's battery drains to zero even though you just charged it?

Depth psychologist Sergei Sotnikov asserts that these aren't just coincidences. Our internal state literally "radiates" into the outside world. If you feel like you're turning into an overheated gadget you forgot to unplug, this article is for you.

Why do we "break"?

The main cause of burnout isn't the amount of work, but our attachment to the outcome . We want to control everything: reports, our boss's opinion, the wedding deadline, or the renovation. We become so fixated on the goal that we lose track of when we're running low on gas.

"Technology breaks down if you don't take a break. Humans break down even more so. If you try to 'play a game' while your phone is charging, you're killing the battery. It's the same with the soul," says Sergey Sotnikov.

Checklist: 5 Unusual Signs It's Time for a Vacation (or a Trip to Georgia)

We're usually told about fatigue, but in our interview, Sergei identified much more subtle and "everyday" markers:

  1. Everyone around you is "buzzing." You feel like those around you have become overly sensitive, demanding, and unloving. In reality, it's you who lack the energy to invest in your relationships.

  2. Your appliances are starting to go crazy. The washing machine freezes, the router breaks down, and light bulbs burn out more often than usual. This is the release of your internal negative tension.

  3. Gray complexion. The bathroom mirror is your best diagnostician. If the reflection seems alien and lifeless, it's an SOS signal.

  4. "Eating away the emptiness." You start eating more not out of hunger, but simply to survive and get some energy.

  5. Difficulty sleeping. The body has become so accustomed to stress that it has simply forgotten how to relax, even when sleep is available.

What to do if you hit a wall?

When your skills and experience are no longer sufficient to overcome a situation, a moment of transformation arrives. Sergey Sotnikov advises:

  • Admitting your need for help is not weakness, but honesty.

  • Check your "baseline." Sometimes it's enough to improve your diet, get your vitamins checked, or simply change your environment for a week.

  • Find "your people." It's almost impossible to get out of a deep dive alone.

This conversation between Vova Azarov and Sergey Sotnikov goes much deeper: about psychosomatics, how God and the Universe send us clues, and why sometimes "waking up at work" is the last call.

(Be sure to watch to the end - there Sergey gives very warm advice about the meaning of life.)

May holidays that will change everything

If you recognize yourself in the description above, don't expect a "lethargic outcome" for your project or health.

From April 29th to May 5th, we're gathering in Batumi for a week-long eco-retreat. This isn't just a vacation; it's a "maintenance" experience for body and soul in one of the most beautiful places in the world.

What awaits you at the retreat:

  • Deep Psychology: Sergey Sotnikov will be the headliner and will help you gently find ways out of your dead ends.

  • Places of Power: We've selected the most powerful locations in Georgia for energy.

  • Clean Eating: A three-meal vegetarian meal plan from a chef who uses cooking as a form of meditation.

  • Support: You will find yourself among people with similar needs, where instead of criticism, there is only mutual assistance.

Remember: you're not a robot. If you break down, replacing parts will be much more expensive than giving yourself a week of peace and mountain air.
